Welcome to Central Valley Hospice Palliative Medicine, where every moment is honored, and every life is cherished. Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide high-quality care and compassionate support to individuals and families throughout the Central Valley, ensuring comfortdignity, and peace during life’s most delicate and meaningful moments.
We are a physician-owned, locally rooted organization that places people at the heart of everything we do. We believe that end-of-life care is about more than just clinical excellence—it’s about being present, listening deeply, and helping each person live fully, in the place they call home, surrounded by the people and passions they love.

The Meaning Behind Our Logo

Our logo is a visual reflection of the heart and soul of Central Valley Hospice Palliative Medicine — a symbol of grace, compassion, and the sacred journey of life.

Doves: Peace, Love & Healing Hands

At the center of our logo are two doves, gently facing one another in harmony. These doves symbolize peacelove, and the soul's journey — across cultures and traditions, doves represent hope, serenity, and spiritual passage.
But in their wings and embrace, you may also see the outline of two caring hands — cradling gently, protectively — as if holding a loved one close. This dual symbolism reflects our unwavering promise:
To care for your loved ones as if they were our own.
These hands speak to the human touch behind everything we do — a quiet gesture of tenderness, presence, and profound respect.

Sun: Light, Hope & Presence

Rising behind the doves is the sun — a beacon of hopewarmth, and continuity. While hospice is often seen as an ending, we see it as a sacred sunrise — a time to celebrate meaningful moments, nurture connection, and hold space for love to shine brightly, even in transition.

Mountains: Strength, Stability & Sacred Passage

Beneath the doves are the mountains — rooted and enduring. They symbolize the strength of our team, the stability we offer families, and the sacredness of life’s final passage. In many traditions, mountains represent a bridge between earth and the divine — a journey upward, inward, and home.

Circle: Wholeness, Unity & Eternal Connection

Encircling all elements is a perfect ring, representing the continuity of lifeunity of spirit, and the eternal nature of love. For us, hospice care is not about closing a chapter—it’s about completing the circle with dignitygrace, and connection.

Our logo is more than a symbol — it’s a story. A story of care that is human, heartfelt, and deeply rooted in the Central Valley. It reflects our mission to walk beside you, not only as providers, but as companions in compassion, peace, and love.

Meet Our Caring Medical Director

Meet Dr. Sundeep Grandhe

A Visionary Leader in Compassionate, Expert Hospice Care

Dr. Sundeep Grandhe is a triple board-certified physician and dual Harvard fellowship-trained specialist in hospice and palliative medicine and bioethics. His clinical board certifications include hospice and palliative medicine through the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board (HMDCB), lifestyle medicine as a Diplomate of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine (DipABLM), and recognition — as the youngest physician ever inducted, at age 35 — as a Fellow of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (FAAHPM), the highest honor bestowed by the field's leading professional society.

Beyond his clinical expertise, Dr. Grandhe is also board-certified in healthcare leadership as one of the youngest Fellows of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and a Certified Physician Executive (CPE) — credentials held by only a small fraction of physicians nationwide. This rare combination of clinical mastery and executive leadership allows him to shape hospice care that is not only deeply compassionate at the bedside, but also thoughtfully designed at every level of the organization.

Rooted in the Central Valley

Raised in Bakersfield, California, Dr. Grandhe brings a unique perspective that blends world-class training with a deep understanding of the Central Valley's diverse and often underserved communities. His return home to serve this region reflects a personal commitment to delivering culturally sensitive, high-quality care with the compassion and dignity every family deserves.

At Central Valley Hospice Palliative Medicine, Dr. Grandhe also serves as attending physician for patients who do not have a primary care provider, or who prefer to be cared for directly by the hospice medical director — ensuring seamless, expert-guided care from the very first day of their hospice journey.

Education & Training

Dr. Grandhe graduated with honors from Sri Ramachandra University, a Harvard Medical International affiliated institution in Chennai, India. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at UCLA–Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, where he developed a strong foundation in whole-person, community-centered care.

He went on to complete two prestigious Harvard fellowships: a Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at Harvard Medical School's Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, and a Bioethics fellowship at the Harvard Medical School Center for Bioethics. This advanced training prepared him to navigate the medical, emotional, and ethical complexities of advanced illness with both clinical precision and profound empathy. Today, Dr. Grandhe is also one of the few board-certified healthcare ethics consultants serving the Central Valley, offering invaluable guidance to patients and families facing life's most difficult decisions.

A Philosophy of Care

Dr. Grandhe's approach is rooted in empathy, dignity, and hope. Two guiding mantras shape the way he and his team care for every patient:
You Can't Spell Hospice Without Hope®
Sometimes Cure, Often Treat, ALWAYS Care®

These principles are the foundation of Central Valley Hospice Palliative Medicine, where every patient is welcomed, supported, and cared for as if they were family.
